A professional Party DJ needs top quality mobile disco
equipment and the experience of performing at all kind of
events. However its the music that is the main tool of the
DJs trade, and its essential your party DJ has a vast selection
of different music styles and the knowledge of what music
is appropriate for each occasion. Pro
mobile disco has a a comprehensive collection that covers
almost every genre and spans from the current top chart
and club music to the 1930's and before. Our music collection
also includes modern recordings of many traditional old
time music hall sing along favourite's.
We provide Wedding DJs and mobile DJs for family party's
like Birthdays, Anniversary's and Engagement parties. These
parties always include an audience of all ages so its essential
your Party DJ knows what are the best tunes from each era
to play. At family parties the tunes we aim to play will
get gran and the teenage gran kids on the dance floor together.
On the other hand party's for teenagers require a far more
up to date music selection and even a huge number one hit
from last year has probably past its play by date.
DJ Play lists
We will always invite you to send us a list of your favourite
music to play during your party, 10 - 20 tunes is perfect.
However with greater access to music its a growing trend
that when planning a party some people do not trust the
DJ and think providing a long playlist will guarantee a
brilliant party. Unfortunately it is far more likely to
have the opposite effect. In fact very long play lists do
not work at all well and 100% play list will ruin your party.
On the night each track the DJ selects should be in reaction
to how well the one before it was received, trying to work
out a DJ play list in advance, that will make everyone want
to get up and dance is impossible.
What if I ask my guests to suggest a tune?
Some inexperienced DJs suggest you ask for music requests
with the RSVP, and before the event create a play list.
On the night all they have to do is set up the mobile disco
equipment, hit the play button and relax for the rest of
the night. However we know this is not a good idea. Its
vital that the DJ knows who asked for what request and if
they are actually in the room when the track is played.
Most people want there party to be full of energy and with
loads of dance floor action. Playing an obscure track from
the 1950s because it was your great uncles favourite will
normally create a dance floor walk off and leave people
thinking what's the DJ doing.
Although its much harder for the DJ to take requests on
the night, read the crowd and react to the changing situation,
it is the best way to create a great party atmosphere. On
the night requests work best because everyone feels involved
and its this that builds the party atmosphere. Your great
uncle may actually be a real live wire and when he hears
his song jumps on the table and gets everyone to sing along
to that obscure 1950's track.
During most parties there is only time for less than 100
tunes so every tune must count. So the only exception to
this is teenagers parties and School prom nights. The reason
is that teenagers tend to have a very specialised musical
tastes and its best not to waste even one tune on something
they do not like. Despite what we have said above send your
Prom Night
DJ a long list of music and it will be a great party
night.
Music Requests
Requests on the night are a great way to build the party
atmosphere and pro mobile disco love's to take requests
as this help's to make everyone feel involved, sometimes
however discretion needs to be used. Its only possible to
play around 15 to 22 tracks per hour so its very important
to select the right tunes that will connect with the majority
of the audience and not waste time on a music selection
that will not work. If the vast majority of people at a
party are dancing and enjoying the latest club and dance
tunes and somebody who has been sitting at the back and
on their own, requests an obscure country and western track;
we would pretend not to have it. Like wise if most people
in the audience where of senior years and the only teenager
in the room wanted a hip hop track which contains graphic
lyrics we would also make a similar excuse. This may seem
harsh but to please this one person would kill the party
atmosphere for everyone else. A good party DJ will always
aim for the middle ground and work to get bums off seats
and feet onto the dance floor.
A party is normally judge to be a great success if there
is lots of dance floor action, but sometimes during a long
party or when there are only a few guests to refresh the
dance floor its best to slow things down once in a while.
This gives everyone a chance to have a drink and a bit of
a chat etc. This is when out of place requests can be played
but only if in keeping with the occasion and the audience
present.
